News: Somaya Reece On "Love & Hip-Hop 2"

Somaya Reece is back in headlines, this time for speaking on the second season of VH1's hit show 'Love & Hip-Hop.The model/singer was interviewed by VIBE Vixen and dished on the new episodes set to hit television screens in November.

In addition to speaking on the new season, Reece also offered some advice to the newest castmate Kimbella, the girlfriend of Julez Santana. Speaking on the model who's rumored to have drama with Emily B over rapper Fabolous she says, "It's funny because so many people have asked me, ‘How does it feel to not be the villain? I will say no matter who decides to come to our show, be yourself. Don't try to be a whore or act like you're going to bust a cap in somebody. Don't turn into somebody else because you're on television. If you're going to come on this show with a bunch of strong women, you better know to just be yourself. Especially for Kimbella, if you're coming into a situation where you don't know anyone, be honest because neither of us on the show likes dishonesty. It's really important to remain honest and true to yourself."

The songstress and arch nemesis of singer Olivia also made sure to mention that she's happy to be back for a second season to redeem herself. According to Reece, the first season felt like a personal attack against her."It feels good to return, because the first season, it seemed like it was an attack against [me]. It was supposed to be more about my music, but it ended up showing more of my personal side as far as me moving to New York from L.A. I chose to live the way I did in New York. I have a home in Los Angeles, and I'm well of it L.A. They thought it was funny. It was challenging, but I'm up for the challenge. I always tried to reach out to the girls, because they didn't understand me or my story. I was doing a lot of things during season 1, but they didn't show it. They didn't show my Lionsgate film, my tequila brand and clothing line. Hopefully, they'll show it this time around."

News: Jay-Z Throws A Carnival For College Kids

On Thursday night, Jay-Z hosted a carnival at the Hudson River Park pier for his Shawn Carter Foundation. But it wasn't all Ferris wheels and funnel cakes  unfortunately Momofuku doesn't make those. The event was called "Making Ordinary Extraordinary", and it sought to raise funds for college scholarships.

MTV caught up with Mr. Carter at the event, where he said the evening was about having fun while raising money for a good cause. Jay-z said two of the worst things in life are a waste of talent and a person who applies him or herself but is unable to advance due to financial hardship. He hoped this foundation would help ease such burdens and assist people in recognizing their potential.

"Just providing opportunity and seeing what people do with that opportunity. If you want to go further and you want to further your education, just giving someone that extra little push so that maybe you'll turn out to be someone special," Jay-z said.

Jay-z and his mother, Gloria Carter, started the foundation in 2002 to help those facing socioeconomic difficulties further their education at institutions of higher learning. The foundation started with one student earning a full ride through college and grew to offer 50 scholarships to students in 50 different states annually from 2003 to 2005. More than 750 students have been awarded scholarships totaling in excess of $1.1 million, and nearly 500 kids have taken part in the foundation's college tours  some even rode the bus with Jay-z's mom.

"My mom has been running this for a number of years," said Jay. "My mom gets on the bus and takes the kids and takes them to their orientations and she's been riding around the college. It's a real grassroots thing that she's been doing on her own, and I'm just really trying to help her expand it so we can help more people. It started out as a Brooklyn thing, and then it started as a New York thing, and now hopefully we can take it to a worldwide thing."

Be Inspired By: Dice

On The 6th proud presents an exclusive with Dice Dixon. You watch her every week on Vh1's Hit reality show "LaLa's Full Court Life". She's so much more than just being LaLa's cousin. They both come from one of the most humble and inspirational families. Dice has shown the world, its okay to be you and live life the way you choose too. She's about to be a college graduate and has so much more to accomplish in life. Take a minute and get to know Dice.

In her own words:

A little background about me is I'm originally from Stone Mountain, Georgia. I'm currently in graduate school at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. I graduate December 2011. I am an only child.

Life has been a little different since being on tv. People recognize who I am when I'm out and they speak and wanna take pictures with me. It's so funny because I have had a few people want my autograph and I do not look at myself as a celebrity.

The next step for me is to graduate and get a job. If there is another opportunity for me to do reality tv or even another opportunity as far as the entertainment world, I would not pass it up. At least I will have that degree to fall back on if need be.

On of my proudest moments in currently being in graduate school with a 4.0 GPA. I never had grades like that before. I was always a good student but never 4.0.

The goals that I have not yet accomplished is I would love to talk with young adults and teens in the LBGT community. I would like to try and help those that are getting bullied and having trouble with being open with their families.

I have no regrets. You cannot go on living life with regrets. I think that I am a cool and down to earth person. Sometimes I feel like I am too nice. Sometimes the nice guy finishes last. lol I wish I could be more focused with working out and losing weight. I like to eat. Its so much good food in the world. lol.

The best advise I have received is be true to yourself and follow your heart. You only have one life to live and you cannot worry about what others have to say because they are living their life. I would tell people to just work hard and follow your dreams. It's not what you know all the time, it's who you know.

To me being sexy is a women who takes care of herself and is concerned about her appearance. Someone who can make me smile and laugh. My soul mate has to be a wonderful person all the way around and someone who I would want to spend the rest of my life with.

A lot of people are telling me now that they appreciate me and look up to me because of who I am on tv. It means a lot to me, because all I can do is be myself and obviously that is good enough. I'm very honored and humbled by the tittle and if I can help anyone feel more comfortable to be themselves then I'm all for it.

Be Inspired By: Super Producer Blue Rocks

On The 6th Proudly Presents Super Producer BLUE ROCKS. You've seen him on Bravo's hit tv show "Real Housewives Of Atlanta", you've seen him on tour with Raekwon. He's all over the place, so take a minute and get to know him.

In his own words:

My name is Blue Rocks, I'm from Brooklyn Nyc, I currently live in Atlanta. I'm currently the head engineer/producer for Raekwon The Chef's ICEH20 Records.

I've Produced "Chop Chop Ninja" on Raekwon's Shaolin Vs Wutang. I've worked with Method Man, Estelle,Inspector deck, Rick Ross,Busta Rhymes,Tommy Nova, Daz Dillenger, Boyz in da Hood, Special Ed, Babs Bunny,
Drazy (Das EFX), T-Boz, Da Brat, Micheal Mauldin, Chilli, Bobby Valentino, Verse Simmonds, OMG Girlz, Daddy-o, Big Bub, Faith Evans, Jagged Edge, Kandi, Kim (Atl Housewives), Diamond, The Monique Show, Rodney Perry, Delta Community Credit Union, Fastlife 360 (Nascar), Otis Redding III, and Jared Wade.

Mc.Shan was the first artist to work with me "industry wise", after that I ventured around to find my own place. It wasn't until Jagged Edge and the "Baby Making Project" that i got my real first break!

I've been doing music since 5 yrs old so i guess i knew since birth i knew this is what I wanted to do.

My proudest moment in my career so far is owning my full production studio facility 100% free and clear.

I also wanted to take care of under privileged children and helping the less fortunate people. So i started the BLUE ROCKS CARES FOUNDATION which will start with a Homeless food drive in which I'll feed over 350 people and gave away clothes to people of need.

I wouldn't change anything for the world, God made EVERYTHING happen when it was suppose to, so any obstacles in my way, was to teach me patience and the true virtues of life.

I'm a Go Getter! I don't like that I have a bad habit of working too hard for my goals and not taking time to relax my brain. Sometimes I also forget to eat.

Always have a back up plan, go to school and learn a trade. The music industry is more than beats and rhymes. There are jobs that pay very well and you still get to travel and be in the "industry life". My advice to people trying to make it in the industry is LEARN THE BUSINESS YOUR IN!!!

I'm currently working on Raekwon's new Album, A new movie score and soundtrack, Tommy Nova's Album, My Publishing co. and The Scream Tour

I Plan with excellent details, and move alone. You won't find me in any scandals.

Sexy is in the eye of the beholder. But i do find intelligence sexy, there's nothing better than a smart woman that can help your situation, and build your foundation, most people look for false beauty, but don't know whats on her brains.

You can all reach my on twitter.com/bluerocksmusic, facebook/bluerocks and of course my website www.bluerocksmusic.com and thesequencesociety.com

So What do you think?

News: "Baketball Wives LA" Star Beat Up Shaunie O'Neal?

This doesn't even sound right and it's not confirmed but it's a story worth sharing.

MTO was given the scoop by a publicist in Los Angeles, Kimsha Artest has been blackballed from the "Basketball Wives LA"

You probably are wondering why it appears that Kimsha has been EDITED OUT of just about every scene in the show?

The insider told MediaTakeOut "Before the show aired, Kimsha told Shaunie that she didn't want the producers to make her look crazy on the show." The insider continued, "When Shaunie tried to act like she didn't have any control over what happened, I heard Kimsha put hands on her."

MTO asked the insider to clarify what they meant when they said Kimsha "PUT HANDS" on Shaunie. The insider replied, "Kimsha beat her azz."

That story appears to be CONFIRMED by the RECENT Facebook postings by Kimsha

News: J.Cole On The Cover Of Rolling Out Magazine

J. Cole is about to drop his debut album tomorrow and he also graces the current cover of Rolling Out Magazine. He speaks about meeting with Jay-Z, and the Rihanna sex-tape rumors along with his new album.

Here is some excerpts:

Talk about your first encounter with Jay-Z. What led to that moment?

I graduated from St. John’s University. At the time, all of my friends got nine-to-five jobs and were making $30,000 to 40,000 per year. I was working at a newspaper in Queens making $8 per hour at a part-time job so that I could still do music at night. I heard that Jay-Z was recording the American Gangster album. That same night, I made two beats and I thought it would be perfect for Jay-Z. I went to the studio where Jay-Z was recording and I waited outside for three hours. His Phantom finally pulled up. I was super timid and shy. I had the CD in my hand and I tried to hand it to Jay-Z. He looked at it and said, ‘What is this? I don’t want that. Give it to one of those other guys.’ It was crushing. That was another moment.

But I snapped back to reality. I knew after that, I had to go harder. That type of rejection fuels me. I believe that greatness is fueled by rejection. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team; Jay-Z had trouble getting a record deal before Reasonable Doubt; and no one wanted to sign Kanye West as a rapper.

How did the second meeting with Jay-Z come about?

One year later, Jay-Z heard a song through Mark Pitts. Jay called me for a meeting. It was a three-hour meeting and I played my music for him. We talked about President Obama and other things. Five weeks later, he offered me a record deal.

Beyond music, your name was mentioned by gossip bloggers who reported that you and Rihanna had a sex tape. How did you react when you heard about it?

Gossip is foreign to me. By nature, I don’t like gossip. I never was on the gossip sites. Now being on the other side, it’s annoying. A lot of people don’t know the difference between gossip and reality. They may think that you have a sex tape with Rihanna, or [that] you’re having sex with Solange because of what someone made up. But I guess it’s just something that comes with the territory.

How does Cole World: The Sideline Story reflect who you are as a person?

This album speaks to the type of artist I want to be. I think the album will provide thought provoking lyrics, and heartfelt stories. I want to take listeners on a ride. It shows the type of balance that I want to have as an artist. I want to be at the top of the list when it comes to rap. I want the respect of the hip-hop fans and connoisseurs. I want to be on everybody’s list.

News: Wanda Sykes Has Breast Cancer

This Monday on the talk show "Ellen", comedienne Wanda Sykes tells Ellen Degeneres how a decision earlier this year to have breast reduction surgery may have saved her life.

Sykes tells Degeneres that while lab work was being performed after her breast reduction, doctors discovered a stage zero cancer called DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ). The finding prompted her to opt for a bilateral mastectomy, or a double mastectomy, in an effort to head off any further development of the disease.

"Do you want to wait and not be as fortunate when it comes back and it's too late?" Sykes said. "I was very, very lucky. I had the choice of, you can go back every three months and get it checked. Have a mammogram, MRI every three months just to see what it's doing. But I'm not good at keeping on top of stuff. I'm sure I'm overdue for an oil change and a teeth cleaning already. I have a lot of breast cancer history on my mother's side of the family, which I didn't know about."

On why she kept quiet about her condition, The Curb Your Enthusiasm star joked to DeGeneres she didn't want to become the cancer "poster child."

Sykes is currently on a stand-up comedy tour and will perform at the New York Comedy Festival in November

News: Beyonce To Launch Own Record Label

Beyoncé may be about to become a mom, but the global pop star has recently announced plans to add another impressive title to her name: music mogul.

Beyonce said she wants the next step in her career to be that of a record executive.

"I am starting my company, my label," she said. "I want to create a boy band."

Beyoncé said she was inspired by male artists who have used their success to feed the next generation.

"I see so many male artists building these empires and passing their knowledge on to other artists and development. I see myself doing the same thing and hopefully other younger artists when they grow up and they have been around for 15, 20 years, they can do the same thing," she said.

In addition to bringing boy bands back, an ambitious Beyonce said she's interested in directing music videos.

"I want to continue to produce and do documentaries and music videos," she said. "I eventually want to start directing for other artists. Once I know that I have my stuff together and I trust that, I can do it for other artists."

News: Actress Taraji P Henson Vs. T.V Guide

The other day, Taraji P. Henson expressed her thoughts of TV Guide leaving her off the cover that featured her new show “Person Of Interest” and two cast mates.

TV Guide’s Editor-in-Chief responded to accusations with this statement:

“I made an editorial decision to do a story about the relationship between the two male characters on ‘Person of Interest’ and that’s who I was going to put on the cover. That has been my decision all along, ever since I saw the pilot. We’re certainly fans of Taraji Henson and her storyline on the show was never intended to be the focus of our cover story. I don’t know where there was a misunderstanding about this, but it’s been clear to everyone from the start. I don’t make decisions on who is put and not put on the cover based on race or gender. This week’s cover September 26 issue features the three stars of ‘Charlie’s Angels’ — Minka Kelly, Annie Illonzeh and Rachael Taylor. We are not pursuing a cover of ‘Person of Interest’ at this time.”

So who are you siding with ?

News: Usher Sued For Stealing "Burn"

A songwriter by the name of Ernest Lee Straughter won a ruling from a California federal judge last month after alleging that "Burn" was copied from his 1998 song "The Reasons Why." The case is now on track to go before a jury. Previously, a musicologist determined that there was enough similarity between the two songs for Straughter's allegations to have some merit.

It's "Burn"'s instrumental track, and not the lyrics, that is said to have used elements of Straughter's work.

Usher, Jermaine Dupri, EMI April Music, Sony Music, Arista Records and others are all listed as defendants in the case, according to
The Hollywood Reporter. For Straughter to win the suit, a jury must decide both that there is substantial similarity between the songs and that Usher and his team had access to the plaintiff's work.

"The Reason's Why" was released by the group Reel Tight in 1998 as "No More Pain" from their album Back to the Real. For a single week, the album reached 197 on the Billboard Top 200, which Judge Christina Snyder ruled was evidence of "wide dissemination," making it possible that the defendants could have heard the song. Reel Tight was also discovered by Warren G, a friend to some of the defendants.

Usher's lawyer's argue that these connections are bogus, and are currently trying to get the case dismissed.

“The fact that the song had virtually no radio airplay forecloses any inference that it was widely disseminated, let alone remotely popular,” the defendants said.

If Judge Snyder rejects their argument, it will be up to a jury to hear both songs and decide for themselves

News: Ke$ha Launches Lines Of Watches

The star (real name Kesha Sebert) has joined creative forces with Baby-G to create a new line of watches. Her Baby-Gs designs come in two dazzling options, a red, white, and blue watch complete with her golden signature, and a sexy black square-faced piece with a leopard pattern.

"I wanted everything to look like it was from the seventies, and square, because I hate circles," Ke$ha explained about the design.

Playing the part of both designer and model, Ke$ha strikes a fierce pose in the brands campaign. Keeping with the seventies flavor, one ad features the pop star pants less in knee-high socks and roller skates modeling the leopard face watch, while another spotlights the singer in a black '70s-inspired patchwork jacket as she flashes her American flag themed watch.

Ke$ha plans to continue to make strides in the design world with a faux fur collection she plans on launching this year. But for now, we will have to get our Ke$ha design fix in the form of these retro inspired timepieces.
