Be Inspired By: Po Johnson

On The 6th Presents An Exclusive Interview with Po Johnson.

We first got to know Po from being on Lala's hit reality show Full Court Life On Vh-1. There's so much more then just being a reality TV star and being LaLa's best friend, Po is also a singer. She also is a positive role model. Everybody wants to have a friend like Po in their life.

Take a minute and get to know the real Po.

How long have you been doing music?
I've been working on music for almost 10yrs now.

Please Introduce yourself to the people who already don't know who you are?
I'm just a a little girl from the swamps, trying to tell her story. I was born in Baton Rouge, LA and was raised in Houston TX. I left home at 17 and moved around. I went to college in ATL, then moved to NY, where I landed on La's couch. Which is where I started to do my music.

Any regrets?
I have no regrets, just life lessons well learned.

Whats the difference between the real you and your TV persona?
The show stays pretty true to who we are. I will say that it tames me down a lot! A lot of the jokes and pranks Dice and I pull on La don't make the air. I'm also a big shit talker, you don't really get to see that either.

What's your greatest accomplishment so far in life?
I don't think I've come close to say I've reached a big accomplishment in life but so far I would say, creating a platform for myself so that I may inspire others.

What are some of your Interest(s)?
I love comic book stores!!! I love to hike, surf outside activities. I'm also a huge film buff! I can sit at the movies all day, I also like to create short films. Basically a huge geek!

So what project are you working on now? what are your goals for 2012
Right now, I'm working on my musical booklet! I wanna release a compilation of song & videos and create a digital musical! It's a lot of hard work but I'm having a blast!!

What's your ultimate goal?
My short term right now is to book a tour by August 2012, my long term goal is peace of mind.

What do you like most about being in the business?
I'm pursuing a life long dream! I'm more than excited, happy and humbled to pursue my passions! And "the business has created that opportunity"'

What's the thought process behind your works?
When it comes to my music most of it comes from a life experience. Or something I want so bad, like a passion or desire. When I put it in my songs that's my way of either telling the story or begging for something.

What inspires and motivates you?
Life inspires, pain, pleasure, and wants
My family and friends inspire me a lot! I wanna be able to retire my mother. I want little girls who feel left out to feel beautiful, I want little boys to know anything is possible.

How was life changed for you since becoming a reality TV star ?
The show has opened up a lot of doors!! Some unwanted but mostly on the positive said. It's helped me a lot with the music.

What are you listening to in your ipod these days?
Lately I've been listening to a lot of The Weekend, Azalea Banks, Kings of Leon, Jeezy, Elle Goulding, Spree Wilson, Stacy Barthe, always Prince, No Doubt...always Radiohead, Miguel...those are my go to these days

Any advice for those looking to pursue their dreams?
I believe dreams exist for a reason. They are mostly a way of your subconscious initiating the drive, so manifest it.

What do you want to be remembered by?
I tried, no matter what, I'm always gonna try my best.
