Lil Kim Accuses Nicki Minaj Of Stealing Her Sound
Lil Kim sat down at Power 105's The Breakfast Club this morning, and she discussed her current label situation, her beef with Nicki Minaj and more.
Kim said that, until recently, she had been barred from releasing new music due to a legal battle with Trackmasters. She said that settling that lawsuit and kick starting her career as an independent artist has been a challenge.
"At this point in my career, I'm really by myself," she said.
According to Kim, her issues with the Young Money artist date back years ago to when she herself was working with Cash Money Records founders Slim and Birdman.
"Me and Slim were friends for four years and we decided that we were going to go into business together" she said. "I was getting ready to become partners with them."
But eventually, she said she watched Nicki Minaj enter the scene with a vocal and musical style that she claimed had been her idea.
"She started releasing all these records doing her vocals the way I did my vocals," she said. "It was my sound. I brought it to the table."
Kim went on to accuse Minaj of "studying her swag" and being nasty to her whenever the two would cross paths.
Kim is currently working on a book about her time behind bars entitled The Price of Loyalty.
