Artist On The Rise: Tey Yaniis

On The 6th presents to you Tey Yaniis, an Artist on the rise:

Take a minute and get to know this rising star.

In his own words:

My name is TEY YANiiS I am a hip-hop/soul/poetry/chill out recording artist representing TRAK MONSTAZ MUSIC!! I actually got started with music when I was very young playing in my middle schools jazz band and orchestra. I played three different instruments at the time, I then transitioned into writing poetry, raps and getting more involved in being an emcee

I'm originally from Dallas, TX. I was born and raised on the south side of Dallas. I come from a single parent home where it was just me and mother. I started doing music to just stay out of the way from my surroundings. I seen a lot of my friends going that normal route of falling into the street life but I was always focused on music and writing because back then that’s the only thing that I felt that I was good at.

I was told by a good friend of mine that if I really wanted to make in music I should move to California. I ended up going to Texas southern university for like a year but my passion was to make music.

I moved to California with a bag of clothes and a pack of smokes and faith striving for that potential opportunity to shine. It was one of the best decisions that I felt I've ever made. It opened my eyes to diversity. I've had chances to write songs for many greats artists from hip-hop, rap, electronic dance music, pop, and indie rock.

It's been a long journey for me but I've been extremely blessed for all the opportunities that have been presented to me.

Projects I currently have in the works is my debut EP titled ‘LA BELLE AME’ which means the beautiful soul in French. That project will be produced entirely by the DRUMADDICTZ from Sacramento! So shout out to my boys CEO AND DB of THE DRUMADDICTZ! Im also working on an acoustic series with my boy Mike Fox. I also have a project with my good friend KREATEV from Atlanta.

My greatest accomplishment in life so far has to be that I am a father to two beautiful children Taleah and Taylor. I wouldn’t trade them in for the world. Plus they love music just like their dad

Music is a big part of my life but other than that I love to read. Reading honestly is like one of my biggest hobbies I feel that you can learn so much. I usually read current events about modern day science, wall-street, business, just whatever I feel like I want to know ill read on it.

My biggest goal in life is to reach people with my music and lyricism in hopes to change the world for the greater good. I do music with a positive outlook on life.

I'm full of songs and ideas all the time and just sharing your world with your colleagues and music lovers alike is the best part about being in the music industry. I love it!

Nothing is better then getting love from fans all around the world. I had a young lady direct message me on twitter from South Africa and she told how much she loves my single 'coffee brown'.

My thought process when I'm creating music is a mixture of experience and creativity. I just love to take my personal experiences and paint them into a perfect picture on my records. I admire and am inspired by the likes of J-Dilla, Digable Planets, The Fugees, Pet Rock and more

I'm on a mission to get my music heard by the world to hopefully have an impact on someones life in a positive way! My family also inspires me to keep going to share and bring back that good soulful sound!

Advice I have for those looking to pursue their dreams? I would say that brand yourself as an original artist is most important. Build your foundation, know exactly what you want to achieve as an artist and go for the gusto!

I want to be remembered as an artist who wasn’t scared to wear his heart on his sleeve through his music.  I just want people to know that I have love for them whether they know me or not cause I want everyone to prosper no matter their situation.

This Fall be on a look out for my new EP "La Bell Ame"

If anyone needs me to pen something for them, I would be blessed to work with you so hit me up yaniismusic@gmail.com
